Finally got called by the Oceanside client. I think I should rent a canoe. This rain is pretty bad. Bet the Cross Island looks like a lake. Maybe I'll try the Van Wyck insted.

Just got done with Island Park. Did the printer repair and a full computer tuneup while I was there. The Oceanside RAM upgrade hasn't called to confirm, so that may not happen.

Windows 7 Upgrades
Geek On The Run provides upgrades to Windows 7 to customers in Nassau, Western Suffolk, Westchester, and Rockland counties. Our services include evaluation of existing hardware and software with WIndows 7, data and settings migration, and purchase consultation services.
Can I Upgrade my Current Computer to Windows 7?
Maybe. Microsoft does have a tool you can run which can be found here. The tool will run on your system and tell you whether it means the minimum requirements to run Windows 7, as well as alert you to some potential hardware and software conflicts.
As a general rule, however, most PCs that are capable of running Windows Vista should be able to run Windows 7. In addition, machines running Vista usually can be directly upgraded to Windows 7 without having to do a "fresh install," which would mean having to back up your data and reinstall all of your programs after the upgrade.
For Windows XP users, things are a bit more complicated. There is no direct upgrade path from Windows XP to Windows 7. An "upgrade" in this case means backing up your data, removing the existing Windows XP installation, installing Windows 7, reinstalling all of your software, and re-importing your backed-up data into the new system.
Will Windows 7 Run my Existing Software?
Maybe. In general, most software that runs on Vista should run on Windows 7. Software that won't run on Vista but that will run on XP will have to be run in something called "Windows XP Mode," which is only available to users who purchase Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate.
"XP Mode" is basically a virtual Windows XP system running on top of a Windows 7 host system. As such, it requires additional resources: a minimum of one Gigabyte of RAM in addition to what is required by Windows 7, as well as additional CPU resources. It also requires downloading two additional packages from Microsoft, installing them, setting up the virtual XP system, and installing the software onto the virtual system. In addition, software that requires activation will have to be re-activated, as the virtual machine will be considered a new computer.
Can I Upgrade to Windows 7 Myself?
Again, the answer is maybe.
The upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 is pretty painless and should be within the scope of what most advanced users can do themselves. The upgrade from Windows XP -- not so much. Older hardware and software comes with a greater chance of incompatibilities, as well as a greater likelihood that the newly-upgraded system will run, but not very well. If you're interested in doing it yourself, there are plenty of resources available on Microsoft's Windows 7 help page to guide you.
So check it out. Maybe you can do this. If so, you can save gas and order your discount copy of Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade from Amazon.
But if after looking through Microsoft's Help and How-to articles, you find your scratching your head and feeling somewhat dizzy and faint, give us a call for prompt, professional help upgrading to Windows 7.
