Privacy Policy
General
Geek On The Run is committed to protecting your privacy.
You may view any area of this Web site without providing any personal information whatsoever. Only when you wish to contact us (or have us contact you) regarding a product, service, or any other matter, will you be asked to provide information that will enable us to fulfill your request.
This Web site serves free, anonymous, software downloads for some of our subsidiary sites. You may download any of the programs offered on our server without providing any personal information whatsoever. You do not need to register nor provide a username, email address, nor any other identifying information.
When We Will Ask for Personal Information
We will only ask you for personal information when we need it to fulfill a request that you have initiated. The information requested may include your name, address, telephone number, email address, details of your computer's hardware and software and the problems you are experiencing, and payment information once a product or service has been purchased.
We will use your personal information only for the following purposes:
- To answer questions you ask regarding our company, our services, or other issues.
- To deliver products, services, or publications that you have requested or purchased.
- To collect and process your payment.
- When necessary, to alert you to critical information (such as product recalls) related to products or services that you have purchased.
We will not release your personal information except as follows:
- When necessary to answer your questions or to deliver the products, services, or publications you have ordered or requested.
- To banks, credit card processors, and others involved in the processing and collection of your payment.
- As required by law, to comply with court orders, or as necessary to comply with legal process.
- To affiliated specialists or subcontractors when you have inquired about services that we customarily provide through third-party providers.
Except as explained above, Geek On The Run will never share your personally identifiable information with any other party. We do not sell our customer lists, nor do we engage in telemarketing.
Web Site Behavior and Data Collection
Like Web servers in general, our server collects non-personal data about its visitors. Some of this information is required by law to be logged, and some of it is collected for technical and/or statistical reasons.
The data we collect includes information such as:
- The total number of visitors to the site.
- What countries they visited from.
- How they were referred here (for example, by clicking on links provided by search engines or other Web sites).
- Visitors' IP addresses. (IP addresses are how computers communicate with each other. Without knowing your IP address, our server wouldn't know where to send the pages that you request.)
- How long visitors stayed on the site, and what pages are most popular.
- What operating systems and Web browsers are being used to view the site. (This helps us to include code to assure that the site works properly across different browsers and platforms.)
- Security-related technical information used to help protect our server and our visitors' computers.
We do not collect personal information such as:
- Your name.
- Your address.
- Your email address.
- Your telephone number.
Advertising
This Web site may feature limited advertisements for technology products and services that we believe may be of interest to people who visit a technology Web site. But we do not attempt to "target" advertising to you based upon your individual Web browsing habits.
We employ several third-party advertising companies to serve the actual ads and to tabulate advertising-related data. These third-party companies may collect non-identifiable data including:
- How many times each ad was displayed ("impressions").
- How many times each ad was clicked on ("click-through rate").
- Whether a purchase resulted from a clicked ad.
Personally identifiable information such as your name, address, or telephone number will only be collected if you actually place an order, at which time you will be asked to provide the the information needed to deliver the product or service you have purchased.
The personal information you provide to vendors when you make a purchase from an ad on this site is not routinely reported to Geek On The Run. Generally speaking, all we will know is that someone, somewhere purchased a particular product or service from a link on our site. This helps us to determine which products and services are popular, but does not allow us to identify you as an individual.
Only in exceptional circumstances (for example, if we will be involved in the delivery of a product or service that you have purchased) do we receive personally identifiable information.
If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us.
